Here's some more of your letters mates!

Dear Steve,

Excellent site. Obvious that it's been a labour of love for you. I'm currently hunting e-Bay to get my Action collection again (my mum threw my original set out in the mid 80's - by then I'm moved into football and women for adventure rather than comics), but now I've got the Action bug again. I can still remember reading Hook Jaw in 1976 and wondering how the hell this could be printed! Keep up the good work.

John

Steve says: Thanks for the comments, most appreciated. yep, it sure is a labour of love. I've been researching all sorts of sources to bring new things to the site. expect some additions soon. I remember thinking that Action was a touch risky, but not really caring about it. it all bounced right off as I could dismiss it as fantasy, but when kids rule o.k. started I thought it was too close to the bone. by that time the fuss had really started, so I guess there was a sense of doom in the air. e-Bay topped me up nicely on old issues, costs a bit, but it's worth it. I swore to stop when I had all the pre-ban issues, but found myself bidding for a few from 1977 because the bug had me!! Good luck, I'll be putting issue 1 up for auction this week so keep 'em peeled.

Dear Steve,

I sort of did the same as you. I said I was only going to get the pre ban issues but since I completed that set I've suddenly found myself getting some of the '77 issues and post-ban Annuals and Specials. They aren't as bad as I remember them to be honest, but they really aren't the same as the original run. Alan Wright

Steve says: Yeah, I still had all my issues in one form or another, but seeing the '76 issues looking good and the '77 issues looking shabby I wanted to bat on. I keep seeing later issues of Battle Action and I still wonder how Charley's War and Johnny Red turned out, but so far I've resisted the temptation to bid. I still have the first few specials and the annuals up to about 1981 somewhere, nowhere near as good, and look at all the old stories used as filler, it's like reading the Judge Dredd Megazine.
